Update on Postponement of Mamma Mia! – 19 July 2020

We hope everyone is staying safe and looking after themselves in this current unprecedented situation. As you are aware, Mamma Mia! had been postponed from May and rescheduled to new performance dates this coming November. However, based on the current Stage 3 restrictions, as well as uncertainties and health risks resulting from COVID-19, the Committee of Management has made the incredibly hard and difficult decision to postpone our production again until next year.

The company is optimistic of being able to stage Mamma Mia! in 2021. This of course, will be subject to advice from the Australian Government and relevant health organisations regarding COVID-19.

TICKETING  INFORMATION

ALL existing bookings for 2020 will be cancelled and we will be processing all refunds during the week commencing Monday 27 July 2020. Please allow time for this refund to be received. Should you have any queries during the process please contact us via our website here or calling 1300 881 545.

Please note that you will need to rebook tickets for any performance of Mamma Mia! once we have confirmed new dates.

We would like to thank all our wonderful patrons for your loyalty, patience and understanding during this difficult time, as well as for your continued support – we’ve received many offers and notes of best wishes over the last few months.

As a community, we are all currently being faced with challenges in preserving what we love and cherish most. If you are looking for a way to support us to return when we can, this is your chance! Should you wish to not receive a full refund automatically, you can make a part or full donation by contacting us via our website here by Sunday 26 July and we will arrange this with you directly with much thanks but no expectation.

The WMTC family looks forward to seeing you all once again in our foyer.

Kindest Regards,
Williamstown Musical Theatre Company

The health and financial impacts of this event will be significant for many people and organisations.  WMTC is no exception and we ask for your continued support through this difficult time. The best way you can help us is to support our Mamma Mia! season in November.

NEW LIFE MEMBER INDUCTEES: ANG CUY, JAYSON FRY & MARK SPENCER

This year marks a special year for three truly valued members of Williamstown Musical Theatre Company. At last Sunday’s Annual General Meeting, the WMTC committee were proud to announce them as the newest inductees to Life Member Status: JAYSON FRY, ANG CUY & MARK SPENCER.

Such was the surprise to our inductees, who were awarded Life Membership for their past and ongoing commitment to the success and longevity of Williamstown Musical Theatre Company.

As most deserving recipients of WMTC Life Membership, we express our deep appreciation for their outstanding and dedicated service to our company. They have given us more than we could ever ask, and they mean more to us than they will ever know.

Here’s a little about our newest inductees;

JAYSON FRY

Jayson first joined the company in 2008 as Radio Mic Technician for our production of ‘Into the Woods’. From there he went on to perform this role for us for a total of 25 productions. Since his original involvement he has also performed with the company in two productions, held the fort as Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager for 6 productions and since the launch of our Junior Program in 2011 stepped into the sound operator’s position for a total of 9 productions. In 2015 he first stepped into the position of Production Manager and has since been the Production Manager for a total of 5 productions, with his sixth locked in for later this year.

Joining the Committee of Management in 2013, he has since held the executive position of Secretary of the company for the past 2 years.

Over the years there have been numerous other roles and initiatives that Jayson has participated in, managed, or just been there to give a hand –  including but not limited to Marketing and Publicity, Set Construction, working bees, many times a truck driver and just about anything else, he has also been there most recently as a key project manager/ influencer for last year’s transition for the company to our new rehearsal and performance venues. He has proven to be a great friend to both the company and its members.

ANG CUY

Ang was first involved with the Williamstown Light Opera in 2001 as a performer in two productions but her time with the company was cut short as the company closed due to works on the theatre.

Coming back in 2006 by joining the Committee of Management and as a performer in the company Relaunch Concert she has gone on to perform in an additional 3 productions with us. Ang has held multiple production roles over the years, including Director, Assistant Director and most notably Hair & Make-Up Design for an estimated 28 productions.

In 2011 she was one of the key members to establish WMTC’s Junior Program and has held numerous production team roles over the years within this program, most notably being Musical Director. Ang has been a constant for us for over 12 years, a true supporter of the company, a great friend and confidant.

MARK SPENCER

Mark first joined the company in 2008 playing the role of George in ‘The Wedding Singer’ and in that same year, quickly jumped on board by joining the Committee of Management and Production Managing ‘Into the Woods’. Over the last 11 years, things have not slowed down at all.

Mark has held a committee role for 8 years, including 1 year as Vice President and 2 years as Treasurer. A true participant and contributor to the committee and organisation over the years, most recently he helped the organisation with the huge transition to a new operating platform maintaining best practice and improvement.

Mark has performed in a total of 6 productions, been on the Creative Team for 2 and Production Managed for 10 and is one of our key members who in 2011 launched our Junior Program.

A true advocate of Musical Theatre for the greater good of people, he has been a positive influence and environment setter for the greater good of our organisation. A truly valued member who strives to achieve better and constantly delivers excellence in whatever he touches.
