A CHORUS LINE – We are auditioning for the role of Richie Walters

PLEASE NOTE – This role has now been fulfilled. Thank you for your interest.

Williamstown Musical Theatre Company are currently looking to cast the role of Richie Walters, which will complete the casting of our upcoming production of ‘A Chorus Line’ to be staged in November 2019 in Williamstown (unpaid).

Auditions will take place by appointment only. Please email Production Manager, Jayson Fry, at to make an appointment or if you have any further questions.

  1. Prepare a song that showcases your vocal range particularly that for the role of Richie (Tenor D3-A4)
  2. You will be asked to learn and perform some choreography during your audition.
  3. You will be asked to read some dialogue during your audition.

When we think of ‘A Chorus Line’ we think of a lot of dancing. Although this is true and dance is the common thread, what connects it are the real-life stories as told to Michael Bennett, who in 1974, over a series of workshops, taped interviews of a group of Broadway performers. These were highly skilled dancers, known as “gypsies,” who travelled from musical to musical, chorus to chorus, only to be found in the background behind the stars. The individual biographies then condensed into the characters that appear on stage.

    • This production was cast during an audition process held in July 2019, however still looking to cast the role of RICHIE WALTERS.
    • Whilst this role is usually portrayed by a person of colour, we are looking to cast as diversely as possible and encourage all male dancer / singer / actors to audition.

Age: 20+ Born: Missouri (usually portrayed by African-American, but not essential)

Vocal Range: Big Tenor (D3 – A4)

After winning a basketball scholarship to college, he almost became a kindergarten teacher, but instead put all his energy into dance. Charismatic, enthusiastic, and very cool, ‘nothing is gonna shake his boat’.

    • Rehearsals for the production are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm to 10.30pm and Sunday afternoons from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. There may be a requirement to start some Sunday rehearsals from 10.00am.
    • There are 3 rehearsal weekends planned to be held on the following dates;
      • Saturday 31st August  / Sunday 1st September
      • Saturday 5th / Sunday 6th October
      • Saturday 26th / Sunday 27th October
    • Performance dates are from Friday 8th November 2019 to Saturday 16th November 2019.

Again, auditions will take place by appointment only. Please email Production Manager Jayson Fry at to make an appointment or if you have any further questions.

PLEASE NOTE – This role has now been fulfilled. Thank you for your interest.
